ESPN3 Is Finally Arriving For DirecTV Customers
A new deal announced today between DirecTV and Disney will make live and on-demand ESPN content available to subscribers of the satellite service, finally extending WatchESPN and ESPN3 to its 20 million subscribers.
The deal will also bring Longhorn Network, ESPN Goal Line, and ESPN Buzzer Beater to DirecTV program guides. Online offerings will include, among other things, SEC Network+. On-demand access will include products from ESPN Deportes and ESPN Films.
We cable subscribers have had access to these things for years (except Longhorn Network, which, hooray?) but this is unquestionably a success for people whose only legitimate television option is DirecTV.
You can read all the PR-spun goodness here, but the answer to your question "When?" appears to be "early 2015."
