Garbine Muguruza Upsets Venus Williams To Win Wimbledon Final
Photo: David Ramos/ [object Object] Fourteenth seed Garbine Muguruza upset Venus Williams in a lopsided Wimbledon Final today, winning 7-5, 6-0 to capture her second Grand Slam title. Here’s some interesting trivia:
Muruguza fought off two set points before finally taking a competitive first set. Some combination of momentum and Williams completely collapsing—Venus finished the match with 25 unforced errors—turned the second set into a dreary, somber march.
