Here's Chad McGhee With Your Knox City Greyhounds Season Coda
And so it ended, on the blackest of Black Fridays, with the Knox City Greyhounds unable to muster the strength to vanquish an undefeated foe which had already bested them on the field of six-man Texas-football war.
Shall God wipe away all tears from their eyes? Might take some doing. Per the Reporter News ...
The Throckmorton Greyhounds used a second-half explosion Friday to take down Knox City for the second time this season, outscoring their district rival 46-21 over the final two quarters of a 78-43 victory."
Throckmorton, which beat Knox City 72-50 less than a month ago to claim the District 9 Division I crown, led by just 10 points at halftime on Friday. But coach Mike Reed's squad forced three second-half turnovers and scored on all five of its possessions after halftime to turn a close game into a rout.
"We just knew that coming out early we were going to get all the tricks that Knox City was going to pull out, and they did some really good things offensively," Reed said. "It was just a matter of time for our kids to kind adjust and figure out what they are."
Chad wasn't available for comment today. It might just be that he's still at his brother's pad in Dallas. They only see one another so often anyway. Maybe it's just too soon. Or maybe he's shattered that he wasn't able to get back in time, and blaming himself for the defeat. That'd be a shame. Games are won and lost between the lines, and old Chad was most certainly not between them.
So, here's some SixManFootball.com talk about this weekend's Throckmorton-Abbott title tilt, but it just doesn't even feel right to look.
Remember the Greyhounds. Remember their fans. You'll get 'em next year, Chad McGhee. Cherish this time we had together. Check back in when you got another rasslin' fundraiser, you American hero you.
