High School Softball Coach Suspended For Sending His Players Out To Find Him Dates, Just Days After Starting The Job

Troy Hennum, the 25-year-old softball coach at Roosevelt HS in Seattle, started work last week. It took him until Monday to be placed on unpaid leave after sending his players out on a scavenger hunt. Their mission: take photos of "cute girls" and get their phone numbers for him.
Katharine Aagard said she was at work at a sporting-goods store last Friday when a group of giggling girls approached, explaining their mission. Later that day, the 21-year-old began receiving text messages from Hennum.
"this is troy. The roosevelt softball coach. I had to see if your legit," he wrote.
Aagard responded, and the two bantered over the course of a few hours.
She showed those messages to The Seattle Times
"Genius, great way to meet a girl, use my girls lol," he wrote in another text, patting himself on the back for the scavenger hunt.
"Are you single? Or am I wasting my time," he wrote in another message.
Aagard reported Hennum to the school, and he immediately called her to try and "get on the same page if possible." He's been suspended without pay, but perhaps Roosevelt should have known what they were getting into hiring Hennum. This past summer he was let go from his old coaching gig at another Seattle area school, for inappropriate texts to one of his players on an overnight trip, including late-night requests to meet alone.
