Horse Owned By Wes Welker Wins Diamond Jubilee Stakes At Royal Ascot
Undrafted, a horse owned by NFL wide receiver Wes Welker, stormed from last place to take a surprising win at today’s Grade 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes on the final day of the Royal Ascot.
A fitting longshot, Undrafted went off at 14-1 odds to win the esteemed race that honors Queen Elizabeth II, who was in attendance. The purse is estimated to be $833,000 U.S. dollars; Brazen Beau, the 9/4 favorite, finished second. The win is Undrafted’s first ever in a Grade 1 stakes race. He will not be retired to stud, as Undrafted is a gelding.
