Jay Bilas Jinxes Buddy Hield, Kansas Takes Down Oklahoma Again
If you’re not a superstitious person, or you don’t believe in the basketball gods, this here’s a good argument for conversion.
With his team down two in the last minute of the game, Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield drove it into the heart of the Kansas defense only to get called for a phantom offensive foul. So on the next trip down, he drew an equally egregious make up call to get himself to the line for two free throws. He nailed the first, after which Jay Bilas summoned the wrath of the hoops deities, whoever they may be, and guaranteed a tie game.
He missed. Oklahoma wouldn’t score for the rest of the game, and Kansas took down the Sooners for the second time this year.
Kansas sophomore Devonte Graham had the game of his life today, scoring 27 points and preventing Hield from hitting a shot in the first half. Oklahoma, for whatever reason, kept going under screens on him, which allowed him to go 6-for-9 from three. The Sooners are now 20-4, while Kansas is tied for first in the Big 12.
