Just in time for the holiday: Athletes you didn't know had their own alcohol brands
source: Getty Images There are so many celebrity alcohol brands these days that it’s hard to keep track of. There’s a shocking amount of athletes with their own line of booze. While there’s a handful you probably know, you’d be surprised just how many athletes are behind some of the labels at your local liquor store. This list mainly focuses on athletes with spirit brands, as well as some canned cocktails. If we included the list of athletes with their own winery or vineyard, we’d be here all day.
LeBron James and Draymond Green: Lobos Tequila
source: Getty Images James and Green joined in on the venture with a whole bunch of celebrity backers, including Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Terry Bradshaw: Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
source: Getty Images The Hall of Fame quarterback makes a kicker of a bourbon, which packs a hefty 51.9 percent ABV in honor of his career completion percentage.
Michael Jordan: Cincoro Tequila
source: Getty Images The six-ringed GOAT went in on a five-person business venture alongside Jeanie Bus, Wes Edens, and Wyc Grousbeck.
Mike Piazza: True Vodka
source: Getty Images The former Mets catcher’s vodka is called “True” from the “true taste of Italy,” a.k.a. it’s made with Tuscan spring water.
Scottie Pippen: Digits Bourbon
source: Getty Images The Bulls legend’s bourbon is barrel-aged for at least five years. One more and you could’ve had a reference.
Chipper Jones: Sugarlands Shine Chipper Jones’ Sweet Tea Moonshine
source: Getty Images Finally, something creative! You wouldn’t expect a moonshine cocktail to be 40-proof, but at least it’s not a generic mezcal.
Connor MacGregor: Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
source: Getty Images Probably the most well-known athlete alcohol, the “No. Twelve” is named for the zip code of McGregor’s hometown, not the length of time it’s aged.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: Teramana Tequila
source: Getty Images The former WWE superstar constantly pushes this tequila during his cheat meals.
Peyton Manning & Andy Roddick: Sweetens Cove Bourbon
source: Getty Images Named for the Tennessee golf course of the same name, the bourbon, aged 13 years, is apparently one of the better celebrity brands out there.
Charles Woodson: Woodson Whiskey
source: Getty Images Woodson, who also has a winery, Woodson’s six-month accelerated-aged Kentucky bourbon has some front-end notes of Cabernet berries.
Jorge Masvidal: Recuerdo Mezcal
source: Getty Images The lesser-known UFC-centric spirit, Recuerdo Mezcal is described as “the top-selling mezcal available in duty-free airport stores.”
Derek Jeter: Bespoken Spirits
source: Getty Images Even The Captain has gotten in on the whiskey game; he kicked off the brand with T.J. Rodgers after leaving his Marlins CEO position.
Steph Curry: Gentleman’s Cut Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
source: Getty Images One flavor review likened Curry’s bourbon to “eating a Snickerdoodle cookie.”
Dennis Rodman: Bad Boy Vodka
source: Getty Images While this new name comes from him being the “bad boy” of the NBA, this was at one point called “Dennis Rodman Original Bad Ass Premium Vodka.” No, seriously.
Travis Kelce: Casa Azul Tequila Soda
source: Getty Images No, Travis Kelce didn’t make the cool blue-and-white tequila bottle with the bell on top. He owns an equity stake in a canned tequila soda made with real tequila.
Christian Fuchs: NoFuchsGiven
source: Getty Images The Austrian former soccer player boasts not one, not two, but THREE different spirits under the NoFuchsGiven label: a vodka, a rum, and a gin.
Alex Morgan: Volley Tequila Seltzer
source: Getty Images The U.S. Women’s National Team captain co-owns this canned tequila soda company that markets itself as a “clean, transparent” adult beverage.
J.J. Watt & Keila Watt: Kickstand
source: Getty Images Kickstand is a canned cocktail brand chock full of celebrity backers. In addition to the retired edge rusher and professional soccer player, Kickstand is also backed by Pittsburgh Steeler T.J. Watt and stock car driver Brad Keselowski.
John Cena: Old Fashioned
source: Getty Images Cena’s beverage is one of several pre-mixed cocktails under Thomas Ashborne Craft Spirits, although Cena is a co-owner. He joins a truly eclectic crew in this venture: Sarah Jessica Parker, Rosario Dawson, and Playboi Carti.
Charles Barkley: Redmont Vodka
source: AP The NBA on TNT legend throws around buzzwords like “reverse osmosis,” “8x distilled,” and “advanced carbon filtration” to make his small-batch vodka. The Redmont website also teases canned cocktails coming soon.
Troy Aikman: EIGHT
source: Getty Images The Dallas Cowboys quarterback and Monday Night Football commentator advertises this as a “wellness beer.” I think it’s because of antioxidants in the hops? The website doesn’t really explain.
Eric LeGrand: Eric LeGrand Whiskey
source: Getty Images The former Rutgers defensive tackle who was tragically paralyzed has gone on to become an author, broadcaster, and entrepreneur. He even has his own coffee company.
