Maryland G Kaylene Smikle (knee) out for season

The 6-foot senior said in statement on Sunday that she had been "playing through some pain since preseason."
Smikle, an All-Big Ten first-team selection last season, averaged 13.1 points in seven games (five starts) this season.
The seventh-ranked Terrapins (11-0) have lost three guards to season-ending injuries before the start of Big Ten play. Freshman Lea Bartelme and sophomore Ava McKennie both sustained ACL tears.
After two seasons at Rutgers, Smikle transferred to Maryland and averaged 17.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 33 starts in 2024-25.
Her collegiate career totals include 1,499 points, 394 rebounds, 155 assists, 150 steals and 125 3-pointers in 87 games.
