The Michigan Wolverines will take on the Arizona Wildcats in one of the most anticipated games of the decade. This is truly the Championship game, although it’s being played in the Final Four.

Michigan has been on an elite run throughout the tournament. Their closest game was a 13-point win against Alabama, which quickly became uncompetitive in the second half. Overall, they’re winning their games by an average of 22.5 points per game.

Arizona’s also been a dominant team throughout the NCAA Tournament. They beat Utah State by 12 points, which was their closest contest. They’re winning their games by an average of 20.5 points per game.

Michigan vs. Arizona Final Four Picks

These are two teams that have been built to dominate, but I don’t expect Arizona to keep up in this specific matchup. They use their elite size and ability to get to the rim to score points. They’re recording over 55% of their points inside the arc, which is one of the highest rates in the NCAA.

The issue with Arizona is that they won’t have a size advantage in this game. Michigan has their own elite set of bigs, including Aday Mara, who is one of very few players with a size edge over Motiejus Krivas.

Generally, the Wildcats have a massive edge in terms of size and ability at the rim. Their ability to grab offensive rebounds for second-chance points is one of their biggest assets, and it may be neutralized.

The Wolverines struggled at times against Tennessee, but their size worked against them throughout the game. I’m expecting that to be the case again here. Even though Arizona boasts an elite frontcourt, they don’t have the talent or overall upside of Michigan.

This is a game where Arizona should have the edge at the two guard positions. Although I do believe Michigan has solid options, Jaden Bradley will be the best guard on the floor at any given time.

The key here is that the Wolverines have several reasonable options that they can throw at the Wildcats to slow Bradley and Brayden Burries. Those two will play the majority of guard minutes for Arizona, while Michigan will rotate players to help slow down the Wildcats’ offense.

We’re also at the point in the season where I prefer upperclassmen to freshmen. Michigan is loaded with upperclassmen, while Arizona is relying heavily on three freshmen. Granted, they have experience with other guys who can lead their team, but I still prefer Michigan’s overall team in a near pick ‘em.
