Nation Angry At Dwyane Wade For Ignoring "O Canada"
Dwyane Wade put up 38 points in a losing effort for the Heat against the Raptors yesterday, but it’s some shots that didn’t count that have him drawing the ire of an entire nation as the Miami guard continued warming up through the pre-game rendition of “O Canada.”
Plenty of Canadians have written in, pointing out that Wade was in violation of the NBA rule book which reads in part:
Players, coaches and trainers are to stand and line up in a dignified posture along the sidelines or on the foul line during the playing of the National Anthem.
It’s this rule that earned Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf a 1996 suspension. You can stop emailing us now, Canada.
