NHL Prop Picks Today: November 28th's Top Hockey Prop Bets

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I made it to my first NHL game of the season — Blues at Devils (my son is a big Blues fan) — and I’m raring to get back at it and turn this ship around.

It's definitely time to try something different! 

How about we try our hand at some NHL props today? Powered by a heaping plate of turkey and every side dish known to man, here’s the breakdown.

NHL Season Stats: 3-12 (-8.45 Units)

Devils at Sabres

Tage Thompson Over 4.5 SOG (+110 DraftKings)

The Sabres have won 4 of their last 6, and Thompson has been front and center in their improved play. He’s netted 6 goals in his last 9 games on 30 shots on goal.

On the season, he’s fired off 86 shots in 23 games (3.73/game). He leads the Sabres forwards in minutes at all strengths with just under 19 per game and paces the team with 78:24 in Power Play minutes.

He’s far and away the focus of their attack, so I’m expecting him to hit his number in a contest where the Total is 6.5 and the Sabres figure to trail against a strong Devils team.

Lightning at Red Wings

Alex DeBrincat Over .5 Points (-195 DraftKings)

It’s a pretty similar spot to Thompson. Debrincat is another red-hot sniper, with goals in 3 straight games and at least a point in 7 of his last 8.

He’s totaled 8 goals and 3 assists on this recent run, and 26 points in 24 games this season. Like Thompson, he’s playing in a high (6.5) Total game in which his team is a dog. So long as he didn’t overeat turkey while watching the Lions yesterday, I like his chances to get on the board.

Leafs at Capitals

Auston Matthews Over 4.5 SOG (+110 Bet365)

Is it desperation time yet in Toronto? If not, it’s close. The Leafs sit next to last in the East and could really use a spark from their talisman.

Matthews missed the last two weeks with an injury before returning on Wednesday. He didn’t score but fired off 3 shots and got 24:35 of ice time. In the seven games before he went down, he averaged 30 shots on goal as he (along with William Nylander) remains the focus of the Leafs attack.
