Notre Dame Fightin' Leprechaun Needs To Brush Up On His ’80s Anthem Music

As 0-2 Notre Dame prepare for their big Michigan State showdown this weekend, new Fightin' Leprechaun, Mike George, sent out this Rockne-fied email warning to the student body. But Fightin' Mike should really read the artist titles on his FightingLeprechaunHouseRockin playlist more carefully if he's going to keep his job as head little green pep boy throughout this season:

Loyal IRISH student body,

As I was walking around campus this week I realized something; this weekend is all about the fight in our Fighting Irish Spirit. After the last two games it would be easy for other universities to pack it in. But they are not us. We are the Fighting Irish. We will never give up, and we will never stop fighting. I know that our football team is ready to get back on the field and fight for us. And after seeing them at work this week, I'm inspired. I know that ND's own Mike Lee is ready to get in the ring tonight and fight for us. And after seeing him prepare for his match, I'm motivated. I know that you are ready to bring the energy to Notre Dame Stadium and fight for us. And after seeing you stay through the end of the longest college football game ever, I'm ready to fight too. As the Michigan State Spartans come into town let's show them what the Spirit of the Fighting Irish is all about. Join me tonight at 6:00, Main Circle, for our march over to the Irish Green Rally. I'll see you there.

And as Bon Jovi always tells us: Don't Stop Believing!

Your Fightin' Irish Leprechaun.

Come on, Mike. There's no "g" in that song title. Besides, Notre Dame will need more than just Fightin' Leprechaun chatter in order to topple Michgian State tomorrow. Because as it stands now ND will need to win 10 in a row to have a shot at a BCS bid and as Journey always tells us, that's just "Livin' On A Prayer."

Thanks for your continued support of Deadspin. Hickey will be your Captain Howdy this weekend.
