Renaldo Balkman Choked A Teammate Today
Released from his second go-round with the Knicks last year, former first-round pick Renaldo Balkman finally caught on with a team in December. He signed with the Petron Blaze Boosters of the Philippine Basketball Association, and has apparently been playing well. But in a game tonight (time differences and all), Balkman melted down.
Frustrated with a no-call at the end of a game that was already decided, Balkman went after the referee. After shoving a coach and a teammate that tried to intervene, Balkman got into it with teammate Arwind Santos, one of the PBA's most decorated players. Head to the 50-second mark of the video—Balkman pushes Santos, Santos push back, Balkman grabs Santos around the neck, and the announcer goes apoplectic.
According to local reports, Balkman has a date with the commissioner on Monday to decide his punishment, and his future with Petron is very much in doubt.
Update: Balkman just Tweeted this:
