Mandatory Credit: Marc DesRosiers-IMAGN Images Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot will miss the rest of the regular season following surgery Thursday to repair a broken bone in his right arm.
Chabot, 29, is expected to be sidelined for four to eight weeks, head coach Travis Green confirmed.
The playoffs -- should the Senators qualify -- begin in three weeks. Ottawa (38-24-9, 85 points) entered Thursday in the No. 2 wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference but tied in points with the New York Islanders.
Chabot, who has 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists) in 55 games this season, was injured on a cross-check from New York Rangers captain J.T. Miller in the first period of the Senators' 2-1 road win on Monday.
The veteran's absence adds to Ottawa's injury woes on the blue line. Nick Jensen is on injured reserve, while Lassi Thomson, Dennis Gilbert and ice-time leader Jake Sanderson are dealing with various ailments.
A first-round draft pick (18th overall) by the Senators in 2015, Chabot has recorded 335 points (78 goals, 257 assists) in 567 games with the franchise. He was an All-Star in the 2018-19 season.
