Texans donate $1M to California's wildfire relief effort
Structures continue to burn on Jan. 8, 2025, in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood after a wildfire broke out in Los Angeles County on Jan. 7. The fires destroyed more than 1,000 homes, businesses and other structures, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said at a briefing Wednesday. The Houston Texans pledged $1 million in support of the California wildfire relief efforts on Friday.
"The devastation caused by the wildfires in southern California is heartbreaking," Houston Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair said. "We are proud to join together with our NFL family to provide support and resources to those who have been impacted as well as the firefighters and first responders who continue to work tirelessly to contain the fires."
The Texans join the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings and NFL Foundation in donating a total of $5 million to support communities affected by the wildfires in the greater Los Angeles region.
The Texans host the Chargers in an AFC wild-card game on Saturday afternoon.
The NFC wild-card game between the Rams and Vikings on Monday night has been relocated from Los Angeles to Glendale, Ariz., due to the ongoing situation.
