The Champions League Was Lousy With Great Goals Today
Photo credit: Laurence Griffiths/ [object Object] The Champions League is the best collection of great teams and players that there is in the sport. Sometimes, all those great teams and players conspire to do a bunch of great things all on the same day. Today was one of those glorious days.
Not only was the Champions League particularly wild today, it was specifically wild late on. Enjoy Mesut Özil continuing his goalscoring streak by making three Ludogorets players look stupid before just about walking the winning goal into the net:
Not to be outdone, Thomas Meunier saved PSG’s ass with an unbelievable volley at the end of their match against Basel:
Antoine Griezmann won the game for Atlético Madrid deep into stoppage time with one beautiful little flick ...
... that was actually the less-stunning of his two toe-flip goals:
And none of those even include the four goals scored in the day’s premier matchup between Manchester City and Barcelona. For good measure, we’ll include the prettiest goal from that one, which was probably the lightning-quick counter Barça got their lone goal on:
Today was a good day.
