U.S. F Brady Tkachuk leaves 4 Nations game with apparent injury
Feb 15, 2025; Montreal, Quebec, CAN; [Imagn Images direct customers only] Team United States forward Brady Tkachuk (7) plays the puck against Team Canada in the third period during a 4 Nations Face-Off ice hockey game at the Bell Centre. Mandatory Credit: Eric Bolte-Imagn Images Forward Brady Tkachuk will not return to Team USA's 4 Nations Face-Off game against Sweden on Monday after he lost his balance and barreled into the opposing goaltender during the first period.
Tkachuk, 25, crashed into Sweden goalie Samuel Ersson's leg and skate and dislodged the net. His next shift lasted 10 seconds before he exited and went to the dressing room, presumably for treatment.
Tkachuk returned to the bench and got back on the ice for another shift, which lasted 14 seconds. He sat out the rest of the period and did not appear for the start of the second.
No official injury update was given.
Tkachuk is the Ottawa Senators' leading goal-scorer this season with 21 goals to go with 23 assists in 56 games. He scored two goals in the United States' tournament opener, a 6-1 win over Finland.
The U.S. was already missing Tkachuk's older brother Matthew Tkachuk, who sat out Monday with a lower-body injury. The Americans are already assured of advancing to the championship game against Canada on Thursday in Boston, regardless of the outcome against Sweden.
