Wayne Rooney's First World Cup Goal Was Sexy As Hell
This goal was pretty dope.
You knew we might've been watching something special unfold when English forward Daniel Sturridge dropped deep to get a pass and, surrounded by four Uruguayan players, made a vicious cut out of pressure toward the sideline and founda streaking Glen Johnson. With his first touch, Johnson cut inside toward goal right past Uruguay defender Diego Godín, and found Rooney at the back post for the easy tap-in. Great goal.
This is a young, fun English team brimming with dynamic, technical players. Unfortunately, they were playing Uruguay, which meant that they were playing Luis Suárez. Suárez scored his second goal late, and England lost 2-1. The Three Lions' chances of advancing to the knockout stages were dealt a massive blow. They play Costa Rica next Tuesday at noon.
