Will Kimbrough Welcomes You To Opening Day With A Special Version Of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame"
What's more American than beginning the Major League season spread over four days in two weeks on two continents? How about an American singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in Sweden? Here's the first in a series of exclusive renditions of our national pastime's theme song we'll be featuring on Deadspin throughout the summer.
Deadspin friend Will "The Alien" Kimbrough has served as hired guitar slinger for Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris, had his songs recorded by Jimmy Buffett and Little Feat, and toured the world as a solo artist ( Americanitis is a particular favorite among the Deadspin staff).
Kimbrough completed his half-month Scandinavian sojourn with dates in Halmstad, Falkenberg, Malmo and Skebobruk (the first time that city's ever been mentioned on this site) but returns stateside for dates in Houston, Austin and Baton Rouge next week. He last appeared in Deadspin discussing the late Alex Chilton's time in Tuscaloosa.
