World Cup Open Thread: Netherlands-Spain
After 63 matches, we have made it to the final. It figures that Wesley Sneijder and David Villa—two of the breakout stars of the tournament—would settle things.
Shoddy Yet Real Analysis: Spain's been playing really good defense, the Dutch have been scoring at a pretty good clip (on top of defending pretty well). Both teams are stacked, but maybe the Dutch pull off the (minor) upset and a bunch of babies are named Arjen or Kuyt in a few months. Alternately, enjoy this piece of hagiography about Totaalvoetbal and the Golden Age of Dutch soccer and why fans should root for Spain. Enjoy the game. Tune in, turn on, uh, comment out.
