Your NHL Playoffs Open Thread
There are two game sevens on the bill tonight, with the Canucks-Blackhawks and Sabres-Flyers series both tied up, 3-3. The Bruins, meanwhile, have come back from two games down against the Canadiens and now lead 3-2. They'll play in Montreal tonight, which means Zdeno Chara can once again look forward to a chorus of boos each and every time he touches the puck.
Roberto Luongo will start in goal for the Canucks tonight; you may have heard that head coach Alain Vigneault unexpectedly sat him in favor of Cory Schneider to start Game 6. The Vancouver Sun those not acquainted with Luongo of his suffering postseason career in the NHL:
Luongo may have handled the big Olympic stage but he hasn't been able to handle the Blackhawks in any of the last three playoff years. His win-loss record against Chicago is 7-11. His playoff record, dating back to 2007, is 13-9 against the rest of the league. Overall, Luongo is a pedestrian 20-20 in his post-season career, all with the Canucks.
In summary: Tonight, Roberto Luongo will do his very best to not play like Roberto Luongo. Enjoy the ice-stick.
