Rex Grossman Turns Down The Browns
Johnny Manziel is out for the year with a hamstring injury. Brian Hoyer is nursing a shoulder injury and may not be able to go on Sunday. Cleveland needs a quarterback. Rex Grossman is not that quarterback. He's busy.
Grossman, who hasn't gotten into a game since 2011 but spent training camp with the Browns before being waived, has reportedly turned down Cleveland's offer. Grossman could have made $53,529 for one week of work, but it's not just any week. It's Christmas!
The Browns are expected to turn to Tyler Thigpen, who they cut this summer upon signing Grossman. Whoever it ends up being will likely be stuck on clipboard duty; Mike Pettine says undrafted rookie and practice squadder Connor Shaw is ready to start if need be.
