Two More Players Join Colin Kaepernick In Sitting Out The National Anthem
The 49ers traveled down to San Diego for a preseason game against the Chargers on “Salute to the Military” night. As he did against the Packers last week, Colin Kaepernick did not stand during the national anthem, instead choosing to take a knee in protest. This time, he was joined by teammate Eric Reid.
He was booed heavily throughout his first series, but he dominated the Chargers’ defense. Kaepernick went 6-for-8 passing for 58 yards, and also picked up 30 yards on the ground on the way to a touchdown. It’s worth noting that 49ers TE Vance McDonald said the pressure on Kaepernick has helped bring the team together.
Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane also sat during the national anthem in his team’s game in Oakland against the Raiders.
