Christian Pulisic Kicks Off The Bundesliga Season Like A Superstar
Every time I worry the American soccer press ( Deadspin included) is being too hyperbolic in their praise and general hype for Christian Pulisic, he goes and assuages those fears with a marvelous performance. Consider today’s Bundesliga opener, which comes amid Ousmane Dembele’s transfer saga as well a bit of speculation about Pulisic’s long-term future.
The Wonderteen started on the wing for Dortmund against Wolfsburg this morning and he got his season kicked off in style. Look how calm he was to smash home the opening goal after manufacturing the proper amount of space against a pair of defenders.
Dortmund ended up winning, 3-0, and Pulisic also provided an inch-perfect curler for the game-closing assist. BVB did not play like a team embroiled in a nine-figure transfer war with the biggest club in the world who were also playing their first competitive game under a new coach, probably because the team has carried over a relatively consistent lineup from last year. A core part of that lineup is Pulisic, who, if today is any indication, is due for big things this year. See you back here in a few months to break down how Pulisic scored a hat trick against Madrid in the Champion’s League or something.
