Flood Of Shit Ends Spring Training For Dodgers
credits: Jae C. Hong | source: Associated Press Dodger Stadium is full of shit. It was last night, at least.
Last night a “pipe backup on two different levels of the stadium” (in Dodgers president Stan Kasten’s words) caused a sewage leak on the field in Los Angeles, causing the Dodgers and Angels to call their final Spring Training game in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Austin Barnes was batting when foul territory near the Dodgers’ dugout suddenly became a lake of poop. Los Angeles Times Dodgers beat writer Andy McCullough wrote that the leak continued after the game ended and may have extended into manager Dave Roberts’ office, but the team is confident it can fix it before opening day tomorrow.
He also got some excellent quotes from players:
“Eww,” shortstop Corey Seager said as he raced out of the clubhouse.
“Crappy way to end the spring,” pitcher Ross Stripling said. “Get it?” [...]
“I smelled it,” [Andrew] Toles said. “It was nasty. I’m not going to tell you what it really was, that’s kind of messed up. But, yeah, it was nasty, man. It was a tragic thing.”
Dodgers groundkeepers tried to push the sewage off the field when the leak sprung, but the game was called off. The Dodgers won, 4-3.
