Katt Williams channels his inner Last Dance Scottie Pippen on Shannon Sharpe's podcast
Shannon Sharpe (l.) and Katt Williams credits: [object Object] Katt Williams had some pissed-off at The Last Dance type of energy during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. Before the episode had been entirely uploaded, clips of him skewering Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and Rickey Smiley were going viral on social media.
He went after them for comments that they made during their appearances on the podcast. Williams did not like the way that Steve Harvey talked about early tension during The Original Kings of Comedy tour because it was hard to follow the spectacular Bernie Mac. He did not appreciate Rickey Smiley telling Sharpe, and others, that Money Mike in Friday After Next was originally his role. And Williams was especially displeased over an old beef that got reheated when Cedric said to Sharpe that he never stole Williams’ joke in the 1990s. Video evidence is most certainly on Williams’ side with that claim.
During his talk with Sharpe, Williams did not simply address what he felt were untruths. He went after the character of all three comedians and others. There were jokes told, but he was very serious about his low opinion of them. He brought to Club Shay Shay the smoke of everyone whom Michael Jordan angered after the airing of The Last Dance.
Scottie Pippen invested in a bourbon, wrote a book, and verbally disclosed all of his grudges a little more than a year after the documentary was released. Horace Grant didn’t even wait two months before he expressed his feelings. He called the bad-boy era Detroit Pistons some “straight-up b*tches” on camera, but after seeing the doc he went to great lengths to make it clear that he neither approved of nor tolerated Jordan’s domineering ways.
That is just how Jordan’s teammates talk about him. Isiah Thomas is his rival who beat him the most, and in recent years has made sure to always speak up for that success. Thomas even made it personal when said that his family and Jordan were close for a time. Williams is not as old as any of these NBA legends, but still brought their energy to Club Shay Shay.
Decades-old beef was nuked at high heat, and Williams made sure that anyone who listened smelled it. The man made it a point to begin his 2024 by getting off of his chest verbal wrongs that he believes were associated with his name.
Katt harnessed the spirit of a disgruntled 1990s NBA All-Star and allowed it to reign down on some people who are clearly not his favorite in the world of comedy. He used his time on Sharpe’s podcast to knock them all down with a hard foul.
