Mikhail Prokhorov's Got Jokes
The Brooklyn Nets don’t have a GM. This is a particularly bad time of year to not have a GM, because unloading some expensive, veteran talent in exchange for draft picks or cap relief is a good way for a bad team to begin trying to unfuck itself. So it was no surprise when Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Nets had offered the job to someone:
Marks apparently wasn’t feeling the Nets, though, and it was later reported by multiple NBA writers that he had turned them down:
Woj described the Nets’ flirtation with Marks as a “two-month process,” so it’s safe to assume that owner Mikhail Prokhorov and others in the front office met with him multiple times. And yet, while speaking to reporters today, Prokhorov said he’d never heard of Marks:
A few reporters read that as a salty Prokhorov trying to burn Marks, but it seems like he was just trying to be funny:
Good jokes, Mikhail.
