Report: Uhh, The Eagles Are Interviewing Tom Coughlin
Tom Coughlin, the grumpiest Tom in the world, might be switching NFC East head coaching jobs. He stepped down as Giants coach last week, made Eli Manning cry, and dissed team president John Mara, all in one press conference. Now, according to Fox Sports’ Mike Garafolo, Coughlin is interviewing to move across the aisle and become Philly’s new head coach now that Chip Kelly is gone.
Miami seemed like the best destination for Coughlin, if the 69-year-old wanted to keep coaching, but Adam Gase scooped him there. The Giants still hold Coughlin’s rights, since he resigned, so they had to give permission to the Eagles to interview him. From the report:
Sources in the Giants organization said Friday they expected Coughlin to speak to the Eagles about their coaching vacancy. The sources said the Eagles are interested in Coughlin’s services, which jibes with a report from FOX 5 in New York on Friday night that stated the Eagles requested permission from the Giants to speak with Coughlin.
Coughlin resigned as Giants coach with one year left on his contract, which means the Giants still hold his rights.
Moving to one of the team’s biggest rivals would be quite the diss, and Giants DE Justin Tuck made his feelings on the matter known.
