Sayonara, Sammy
This image was lost some time after publication. It would be safe to say that it has been a difficult year for Orioles outfielder Sammy Sosa. He had that somewhat inexplicable testimony before Congress, where he apparently forgot that he knew how to speak English quite well. The Cubs ran him out of town, and he showed up in Baltimore just in time to have a horrific season and receive nothing but boos. How bad has it gotten now? The hot rumor is that Sosa only option for next year will be to play in Japan, the only country where he's still popular. There, he could make about $3 million a year; here, he could be lucky to land a minor-league contract. We would say something like "my, how the mighty have fallen," but we feel like the best word here is probably "deflate."
