Goalie Fight Breaks Out During Timeout
A good goalie fight should be like a good summer fling: short and passionate. These two AHL goalies brushed against each other at center ice and it was on. For one brief moment, they truly lived.
John Gibson, in white, plays on the Norfolk Admirals (Anaheim Ducks) and Jeff Deslauriers, in black, for the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Penguins (Pittsburgh). Deslauriers, who caused an earlier scrum and threw the first punch in this one, was kicked out of the game, while Gibson was allowed to stay. Deslauriers struck first, but Gibson quickly took him down and they brawled some until the referees separated them. The two even inspired their teammates to half-heartedly fight a bit.
