It might not — yet — have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NBA team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they're out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at tips@deadspin.com. Today: The New Jersey Nets.
You know what bugs us? How the big corporate NBA blogs are squeezing out the little guy. We'd much rather read a basketball blog written by a devoted fan who isn't being paid anything, than a daily screed churned out by a paid journalist who is doing it because J. Jonah Jameson wants some local NBA color in the Daily Bugle. Fortunately, there are a few hearty souls with each team who keep up the good fight. Take the New Jersey Nets, for instance. Their fans come with pre-built-in attitudes, being so close to (and at one time based in) New York and all. No, the team that has featured Rick Barry, Dr. J and Jason Kidd will not cave in to "the man." Let's check out the blogs:
3. Nets Daily. The blog portion of a bigger news site, a good source for Nets fans. If you're into stats, this may be No. 1.
2. Nets News. There for Nets fans on a consistent basis, and totally obsessed with Vince Carter. Nothing wrong with that.
1. Joe Netsfan. Blogs-within-a-blog, great news and commentary, and of course Champagne's Blog, which should not be missed if you're a he-man type guy.
