Real Madrid Take Lead On Bayern With Sexy Goal
...Whoa.
Real Madrid are hosting defending Champions League winners FC Bayern today in the first leg of this year's CL semifinal. These two clubs are perhaps the two best in the world right now, and the winner of this tie is favored to win the whole tournament.
Bayern dominated the ball in the first half, but Real Madrid created the better chances on the counter. Nineteen minutes in, Cristiano Ronaldo received a pass at the halfway line, then lifted his head and played a dangerous ball around the corner and behind the Bayern defense to streaking left back Fábio Coentrão. Coentrão took a touch to control, then slotted a perfectly-weighted ball across the six to forward Karim Benzema, who slotted it in.
That was pretty silky.
Bayern, to their credit, kept pressing, but Madrid's counter created a great chance for Ronaldo, who was in on goal 18 yards out. His first-touch shot, however, let him down.
At half, Madrid lead 1-0.
