See? It's Not So Hard To Get Hired By ESPN

We've mentioned this before, but we have much sympathy for the plight of the veteran female sideline reporter. Lots of these women, Lesley Visser, Suzy Kolber, so on, have been working the NFL beat for years, and not only do you have to deal with Joe Namath trying to lick your face, you have to also come to terms with the fact that most of your colleagues are doing the same thing you are with no qualifications.

The winner of this "man, it's easy to get this job" contest has to be ESPN's Heather Cox, who, as Sports By Brooks points out, qualified for her job with two years of community college (with a degree in accounting, natch) and a spot on "American Idol." You can learn all kinds of goodness about Heather at her MySpace page, if you're into that type of thing.

Man, the professional conversations she and Jim Gray could have.

(UPDATE: There's considerable debate as to whether or not Sports By Brooks has the right Heather Cox.)

(SECOND UPDATE: This has now been officially debunked.)
