Lolo Jones Ends Track Season, Pledges To Focus On Netflix
Lolo Jones, the world's second-most-famous track athlete, has called it a season despite three remaining meets left in the IAAF Diamond League, she announced today via Facebook.
"The last two years I have competed nonstop," Jones, 31, wrote. "I have taken no breaks more than two days so that I can participate in two sports."
Jones was part of the 2014 Winter Olympics team, where she competed in the bobsled. Transitioning quickly back to track after the Games' end, she finished third at the 2014 USA Outdoor Championships in her specialty, the 100-meter hurdles. She concludes her season as the fourth-fastest in her discipline in the world to date behind three other Americans.
Now that her racing season is over, Jones said she is excited to "focus on Netflix" before resuming training in November. She will then begin the long, slow build to making the U.S. team next summer and then competing in the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. In the 2008 Olympics at the same site, Jones was heavily favored for the gold medal before a clipped hurdle derailed her race. She settled for seventh.
"I can't wait to look every fear in the eye," Jones said, "and overcome."
