@Dead Wrestlers Society: To be fair, "expensive mediocrity" *is* a strategy. It's just a lousy one. At least Toronto will hold that torch for the AL East. Rolen to third place!

@Hustler of Culture: My feelings on this are conflicted. Be great if they would have at least made a real try to resign him, but, now that hes gone, they better trade everyone else of value (I said this after the Tejada deal too, sadly). If we dont move Roberts for top prospects, Huff/Millar for potential pieces and Gibbons for a sack of old socks then this is just an exercise in futility.

Coach Ratface had better keep an eye out for that owl. Apex isn't that far away from Durham.

@HazelMaesLandingStrip: Um what? Their bullpen was shitty last year, but their starters were decent. They had a lot of injuries. Bedard and Guthrie were very good and Loewen broke his arm early on so he was on the DL. They have done a much better job generating arms than bats.

@Tracy Ham and Eggs as played by Walter Mondale: No one on the team now will be good and cheap when the next group of young and cheap players show up. It is possible to reload without rebuilding, but you have to be loaded at some point and not just filling loads.

@Hustler of Culture: Well, that was befor McPhail got there. At least it looks as if Angelos is letting him do some things. They have also opened up a Dominican Republic academy, which they are about 20 years too late, but still. They aren't going to turn this around overnight, but I like what I am seeing thus far from McPhail.

Plus, they are giving their draft picks big bonuses. They paid a lot for Weiters and many felt Arrieta would have been a first round pick (I believe they got him in the 3rd).
