Christian Laettner Inducted Into Hall Of Ethnic White People
For a Dukie, Christian Laettner had a decent enough NBA career: 13 seasons in the league with six teams, a member of the 1992 Dream Team and an All-Star reserve in 1997. And for that, he's going to the Hall. Oh no, you big silly, not the NBA Hall of Fame. He will enter The National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame on June 12th in Troy, Michigan.
Joining him in the Class of 2008 will be bowler Aleta Rzepecki-Sill, Detroit Lions and Baltimore Colts running back Tom Nowatzke and major league pitcher Casimir (Jim) Konstanty, along with five more types of unheralded pierogi and a highway in Baltimore named after Kazimierz Pulaski.
The election of Laettner, Rzepecki-Sill, Nowatzke and Konstanty brings the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame roster to 111. Laettner and Rzepecki-Sill were elected from the NPASHF national ballot. Nowatzke was selected by the Hall's Veterans Committee, and Konstanty enters as the Hall's "Greats of the Past" selection.
Of the past? Don't those crazy pollacks know who's gonna be great 20 years from now? Geez, you try to skirt pernicious stereotypes but they just won't let you.
