The Buick Open Was HQ For Grand Theft: Golf Cart
Suburban Michigan: not known for its public transportation. If you're a teenager without a car who biked all the way to the Buick Open, you're probably in no mood to pedal all the way home. Solution: steal a golf cart!
A certain 19-year-old from Waterford, Mich. must be a huge golf fan. To ride his bicycle the 21 miles to Grand Blanc, site of last week's Buick Open, shows devotion. To not have a plan to get home shows stupidity.
So, he loaded his bike into the back of a nearby golf cart and took off down Saginaw Street. Police stopped him about 2 a.m. as he was tooling along to a relative's home.
Michael Moore would be pleased that Flint's motor vehicle culture appears to be thriving again.
That's not even the only unauthorized golf cart escapade that went down over the weekend. Two fellows well acquainted with the firewater were taking a joyride in one of the course's carts, when police tried to pull them over. The men jumped a curb and tried to get away. They were not successful.
