Carlos Tevez "Doesn’t Have The Balls" To Quit Argentina
Carlos Tevez has declared he is considering winding down his career—at the ripe old age of 26.
Tev has never hidden the fact he's somewhat fallen out of love with pro football and speaking to press after Argentina's 4-1 win over Spain, the Man City forward revealed he would have quit the international stage already, were he not lacking the testicular fortitude.
Spanish sports rag AS picked up Tevez' refreshingly honest quotes yesterday:
I am thinking about leaving the national team. It is something that is constantly playing on my mind. I still feel the desire to play, but I don't know if I will reach the 2014 World Cup. I think it will be difficult.
I am tired. I am 26 years old and I feel old. The knocks, like the one I suffered in this match, are starting to hurt. It is hard. What's more, if it were only down to me, I would not be here with the national team. If I am here it is because of the warmth I get from the people and for my family's sake.
I think that I will never reach the form I reached when arriving at this summer's World Cup, and that's why I think it will be very difficult for me to make it to 2014.
It is on my mind often, but I don't think I will have the balls to leave the national team. I just don't think I will have them. But don't worry, it's not like I'm going to leave the national team tomorrow. I will stay for the time being.
A player has to 100% when playing for their country and in any other instance he should leave his place to another player. And he should also give everything. If ever a player is not 100% they should step aside and let someone who is in better form take their place. That's how I see it.
I think we can assume it's fairly unlikely Tev will be hanging about once his contract at Eastlands expires in 2014.
