Referees Get Punished For Promoting Breast-Cancer Awareness With Pink Whistles
Here's to you, Washington Officials Association, for standing up to 140 high-school-football referees who dared use pink whistles for breast-cancer awareness the other night without first getting your permission.
"It sends the wrong message to kids that are playing the game. 'If they broke the rules why can't I do the same,'" said Washington Officials Association Chair Todd Stordahl. (pictured, standing far left) [ KING5.com]
Exactly. This me-first generation is destroying a nation. Stand your ground and beat cancer on . ( Kerri agrees, right?)
Stordahl said using the pink whistles was a violation of the rules and deserved punishment. Now, he says he regrets coming out so strongly against it. He thinks people got the wrong impression. "As someone who follows sports, that's all that we have are rules, regulations and interpretations," he said.
