Stanford Fan Should've Read His Sign Aloud Before Bringing It To The Game

Because no one reads the newspaper, and SportsCenter's anchors are too perky for this early in the morning, Deadspin combs the best of the broadsheets and internets to bring you everything you need to know to start your day.

•So the UConn women's team finally lost, after 90 games, to the last team to beat them: Stanford. Historians will long study this odd two-week period where we all appeared to follow women's college basketball. And yes, the game's on ESPN Classic today if you're so inclined. (Thanks to Rob for the screengrab.)

•Hey coaches: need to stop the clock real quick? Take a penalty, like too many men on the field. Or maybe punch a ref. Or trip a player. Or throw rocks at the opposing coach. Whatever it takes. UNC managed to spike the ball with 1 second left and 16 players on the field, and ended up beating a self-destructing Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.

•Hey players: don't even think about a quick salute after scoring a huge touchdown, no matter how intimately connected with the military your school is, or you'll get flagged for excessive celebration and cost your team a shot to tie the game. K-State got righteously screwed as Syracuse becomes champs of the Pinstripe Bowl.

•Washington got revenge for an early season beatdown as they topped Nebraska, 19-7 in a controversy-free game. No Big Ten refs in this one, huh?

•I'm not sure a Dirkless team is the best measure of Dallas, but San Antonio sure looks like the best team in the west by a mile. Led by Tim Duncan (of course) and Gary Neal (sure why not), this one was never as close as the 99-93 score seems.

One more day left. Everyone be sure to say "twenty-eleven," not "two-thousand-eleven."
