Vikings Defensive End Gets Arrested, Released, Tased, Then Arrested Again
Last year, Everson Griffen was a fourth round draft pick out of USC. The rookie defensive end played in 11 games for the Minnesota Vikings this season. But who cares. Check out what he did this weekend.
On Friday, he got arrested for (allegedly) being publicly drunk in South Los Angeles.
On Saturday, he was released.
On Monday, he got pulled over and was found to have an invalid drivers license.
That's when the fun starts.
Griffen then told them "he did not want to go back to jail" and sprinted away from the officers, who caught up with him after a short distance.
When one of the officers tried to subdue Griffen, he allegedly grabbed the officer in the groin area, the source said. Moments later, officers used a Taser to subdue him, the source said.
Well, good news just came in over the wire: A cop-crotch-grab is not a felony! At least according to the L.A. County District Attorney's office it isn't. Per the Star Tribune, "they declined to file felony charges against Griffen based on the absence of injury and the defendant's absence of criminal history. ... There is a chance Griffen's court date could be delayed or vacated, if no misdemeanor charges are filed."
The Vikings and the NFL both say they're looking into the matter.
Of course they are.
