Dan Snyder's Attorney Sends A Strongly Worded Letter To D.C.'s Alt-Weekly
Because no one reads the newspaper, and SportsCenter's anchors are too perky for this early in the morning, Deadspin combs the best of the broadsheets and internets to bring you everything you need to know to start your day.
• Redskins owner Daniel Snyder didn't much like " The Cranky Redskins Fan's Guide to Dan Snyder," a Washington City Paper story which ran in five other alt-weeklies. So, he's threatening legal action and wants the staff writer who "has written critically about Snyder's ownership of the team for years" fired [ Washington Post].
In a letter sent to City Paper's owners after the article's publication, Redskins chief operating officer David Donovan alleged that Snyder had been defamed by the publication and that legal action was an option. To date, however, no lawsuit has been filed.
The article ... detailed dozens of Snyder's actions as team owner and businessman. It recounted such episodes as the controversy surrounding the removal of trees on land adjacent to Snyder's home near the Potomac River and his raising of parking and ticket prices at FedEx Field, the Redskins' home.
The article was accompanied by a clearly doctored photo of Snyder with horns and facial hair.

• RichRod didn't want to come off sounding self-serving in an interview with the AP, but he did say, "'Witch hunt' may be a little too strong of a word, but there was certainly an agenda. That initial [Detroit Free Press] article that came out was agenda-driven to be as negative as it could be on Rich Rodriguez and what he was doing with the football program." [ Detroit Free Press]
• Kentucky lost to Ole Miss 71-69 on a deep three-pointer with 2.9 seconds left [ Courier-Journal]. This had something to do with it, too:
With the Rebels up 61-55, [Reginald] Buckner made the defensive play of the game. Knight drove for a soaring one-handed dunk attempt, but Buckner turned him away with a spectacular block. Graham raced to the other end for a layup, drew a foul and sank the free throw to make it 64-55 with 6:31 to play.
