The Preakness, like all of horse racing, has a problem: no one really gives a shit anymore. It got to the point where Pimlico nearly lost the race.
The Maryland Jockey Club, owners and operators of the track, want to skew younger. Last year was "Get Your Preak On." This year's slogan is "Be Legendary," as best anthropomorphized by Kegasus, who seems to be Kenny Powers meets Barney Stinson meets the bottom half of a horse. Kegasus would like you to know that you will get all the beer you can drink on the Pimlico infield for just $20.
The Sun's cautiously calling it creative yet tasteless, and we've already heard from a thoroughbred breeder who didn't see it as being particularly respectful. Still: 20 dollars.
