Lakers Player Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Pregnant IHOP Waitress (Pregnancy Update)
But don't worry, it's not a Laker that you've heard of, or matters.
Derrick Caracter showed a distinct lack thereof in a drunken early-morning incident at a New Orleans IHOP. The forward, who's been up and down from the D-League all year, was arrested early Sunday for battery, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
From a New Orleans police statement, the
Caracter, a 6-foot-9 forward who was in New Orleans for the playoffs series, was drunk and acting disorderly inside the restaurant, police said.
He "started grabbing and pulling" a pregnant waitress, prompting the manager to go outside and flag down a police officer, Harper said. The female officer tried to defuse the situation, Harper said, but Caracter remained obstinate. The officer arrested him.
This goes against everything we've been led to believe about Caracter, namely that he likes to eat sushi to relax between games.
UPDATE: New Orleans police have corrected their initial erroneous report that the waitress was pregnant.
