Last month, Kansas City Star blogger/reporter Lee Judge wrote that Wilson Betemit should have leaned into a pitch with the bases loaded in a tie game. It wasn't received well, as leaning into the pitch is easy for sportswriters to recommend, while they're sitting comfily at home.
Yesterday, and Judge claims the idea was his, he stepped into the batting cages at Kauffman Stadium. The pitching machine was set up to drill him with an 81 mph slider, the same pitch Betemit dodged. But, due to the machine malfunctioning, or perhaps being fiddled with by Kevin Seitzer and Jason Kendall, he got it at 92.
