David Tyree Makes An "It Gets Worse" Video
"Two men will never be able to show a woman how to be a woman," says David Tyree, by way of explaining his decision to go on the record against gay marriage. Tyree was raised in an all-female household after his parents divorced when he was one year old, and the lack of male role models caused him to become a womanizer and drug addict. Or maybe it caused him to be the kind of born-again ex-addict who campaigns to keep other people from being able to marry. What does make a person the way he or she is?
Now, thanks to "a minority, an influential minority," New York could legalize gay marriage. Tyree: "What I know will happen if this does come forth is this will be the beginning of our country sliding toward, you know, it's a strong word, but anarchy....That will be the moment where our society in itself loses its grip with what's right."
Tyree's video comes after his former teammate Michael Strahan recorded a pro-gay-marriage PSA, in which he appeared with his fiancee of two years, Nicole Mitchell, who would be Strahan's third wife —making him an ideal spokesperson, really, against the sanctity of opposite-sex marriage.
