At the Swedish Open yesterday, Caroline Wozniacki was serving for match point against Alizé KCornet when a cell phone started to ring. In tennis — and especially just prior to a serve for the match in tennis — the cell phone interruption is just about on par with calling the president of the United States a dick on national television. Just do not do it. Do not let your cell phone ring while watching a live tennis match.

This rule only lapses when you happen to be walking by a public court in your local park and the two guys playing singles are decked out in white-and-gold Roger Federer Nike outfits but have the same game as your high school team's No. 5 singles player. In that case, please turn up your cell phone ring as loud as it can go.

Yesterday's interruption, though, was a rare one: the cell phone in question belonged to KCornet, who ran to the sideline and silenced it just in time to lose to Wozniacki, 6-4, 6-4, in the first round of the tournament. We'll let this one slide, because she was on the verge of losing, and because it had to have been an honest mistake. Any pro knows that you do not let your cell phone ring while playing a live tennis match. Unless you are playing John McEnroe, in which case, yeah, that would be a hilarious thing to do.
