Mike Commodore (@commie22 on Twitter) is not a particularly special hockey player. He's a -10 with 104 career points in 454 games, with a Stanley Cup and some great accompanying red beards. He just signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings.
But right now he holds the keys to the greatest story in the NHL, and perhaps all of sport: the possibility of a Commodore 64 jersey. He's worn 22 and 44 before, but the enterprising internet types are begging for a uniform-based homage to the early days of computing.
Commodore tweeted today, "For those asking, I have not decided what # I am wearing yet...but I am considering #64. Need to talk to equip manager..decide at camp."
Make the right decision, Mike. The boost in jersey sales would be more effective than any government rescue package. The future of Detroit, and novelty-jersey owners, rests in your hands.
