Dana Holgorsen Is Now Spamming The WVU Student Body To Find A QB
Geno Smith is more than capable of running the Mountaineer offense, but he's injury-prone and the only alternative is a true freshman. With other QB recruits leaving the program or switching to other positions, West Virginia's depth at quarterback is becoming an urgent matter. Coach Holgorsen does not exactly sound like a man with a plan:
This does not inspire confidence, but desperate times — Holgorsen himself has been throwing passes in drills — call for desperate measures. On Monday Holgorsen sent out a mass email to every student at West Virginia, making them aware of open tryouts later this month:

Please contact Rose Barko at (304) 293-4194 or [email protected] with any questions.
Walk-On Schedule (August 22, 2011) 6:15 p.m. - 6:45 p.m., Registration, Milan Puskar Center 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Workout, Milan Puskar Stadium
The walk-on tryouts happen every year, but the school has never made a big deal of them, and certainly never attached the coach's name to an email blast. So if anyone's ever dreamed of being a Rudy on the Monongahela, now's your time. Just please don't hit reply all.
