What we're watching (all times EDT, unless noted): MLB Network has Cardinals-Phillies or the second game of the Orioles-Red Sox day-night doubleheader at 7. ESPN2 has the WNBA playoffs, with New York-Indiana at 8 and Phoenix-Seattle at 10. And ESPN has Rams-Giants In Monday Night Football at 8:30.
Pat Jordan's 1994 profile of an 11-year-old pageant queen: "Blaire Pancake's bedroom at home looks like Cinderella's - after she married the prince. It is filled with crowns, tiaras, batons and trophies, all glittering with rhinestones, that make her old Little League trophy look shabby. She has a bulb-lined makeup mirror and two walk-in closets overstuffed with evening gowns just perfect for a miniature adult. (When Blaire was crowned Little Miss Hollywood Babes Superstar, she had a dress named after her. The Blaire is tulle-skirted and sequined in a herringbone pattern.) Blaire doesn't play organized sports anymore, though she skis occasionally ) [sic] with her family, and she's just started to make time for a sleepover or two. (School is no problem: Blaire gets A's.) 'Pageants are my only interest,' she says. 'They're all I want to do. I love what I'm doing. I want to become Miss America.' Which is why there are no posters of Blaire's favorite rock stars in her room. No posters of a fantasy heartthrob. Blaire's room is a shrine to her own fantasy." [Life Magazine/Bronx Banter Blog]

Romo's injury actually worse, says ESPN: "Tony Romo not just ribs. Reporting Punctured lung. Uncertain but hoping to play vs Redskins." [Twitter]
He's a repeat offender, so naturally his fine is less than last year's: "Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson will be fined $40,000 - but not suspended - for his hit on Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin on Sunday night." [PFT]

The severity of Djokovic's back injury: "He said he may have to miss events in China next month but sounded prepared to play in the final Masters 1000 event of the year at the beginning of November in Paris, if not before. ‘I hope I will recover by then,' Djokovic said. ‘Anyway, I won't risk the worsening of the injury and that's why it is hard to predict for how long I will rest.'" [Busted Racquet]
The Sawks ah still slidin': "The reeling Red Sox lost for the 12th time in 15 games when Jeremy Guthrie pitched the last-place Baltimore Orioles to a 6-5 win today in the opener of a day-night doubleheader, cutting Boston's AL wild-card lead to 1½ games. Boston, which lost three of four games against Tampa Bay this past weekend, saw its edge over the idle Rays sliced again. The Red Sox led Tampa by nine on Sept 3." [Boston Herald]
It's as if they never happened, even though everyone knows they did: "North Carolina will vacate all 16 football victories from the 2008 and 2009 seasons, and reduce scholarships as part of self-imposed penalties following an NCAA investigation into the program. The school also put the football program on two years of probation as a result of the probe into athletes accepting improper benefits and academic misconduct." [Sports Illustrated]
